Sawtooth Student Council is running the Pennies for Patients fundraiser until March 19th. Sawtooth students are collecting pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and bills to help benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fight childhood blood cancers. Donations can be made online once students set up online profiles or through the school page at https://events.lls.org/pages/mn/SawtoothMountainElementarySchool-2020
We have a school goal of $2,020 and students and classes can earn rewards through next week.

The 3rd-5th grade students attended a presentation on electricity put on by the Bakken Museum. They learned about DC and AC electricity, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla. This presentation was sponsored by the Arrowhead Electric Cooperative.
The Symphonic Band did great at Solo / Ensemble today at UMD where they were rewarded with an Excellent Rating by the Judges! Great job band members and Director Mikkel Haas!

With their 79-68 playoff win over Lakeview Christian Academy, the Boys Basketball team will play at North Woods High School (Cook, MN) tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6pm in the Section 7A Quarterfinals.
Tickets are $5 for students and $9 for adults.

Just a reminder to seniors that the deadline for local scholarships is fast approaching. Grand Marais Public Utility Scholarship deadline is March 13th (open to families that are customers), and the rest of the local scholarships are due April 7th. Thank you to all the businesses and individuals that support our seniors.

The Boys Basketball team will have a home playoff game vs Lakeview Christian Academy on Monday, March 2nd at 6pm in the first round of the Section 7A Playoffs.
Tickets are $5 for students and $9 for adults. No passes accepted for playoff games.

With their playoff win over Carlton, the Girls Basketball team will play at UMD tomorrow (Saturday) at 4pm in the Section 7A Quarterfinals against Mt. Iron.
Tickets are $5 for students and $9 for adults.

2020-2021 Kindergarten Parent Meeting:
There will be a meeting for 2020-2021 kindergarten families on Thursday, April 2nd at 5:30 pm, Join us for a multimedia presentation about the excellent education your child will receive at Sawtooth Mountain Elementary School. At this meeting, administration and the current kindergarten teachers will share information about our small class sizes, aligned curriculums for mathematics, reading, writing and language arts, our licensed specialist teachers (physical education, music, art), our World Language program, our elementary library, our use of technology to enhance instruction, our school garden, school forest trail systems, and Winter Wonderland. Please plan to enter through the Main Entrance door and follow the signs to the Sawtooth Media Center. Free childcare will be available. Please RSVP for childcare by March 31st.
